An even shittier response to an already shitty introduction

Published by Joy on

Hi. I’m quarter-life-crisis-ridden, mind-fucked author number two. I curse a lot more now that I’m living with my co-author. I am very ok with that.

Let me summarize my quarter-life crisis experience for you: I broke up with my boyfriend of three years, quit my job, and went to graduate school. Pretty productive quarter-life crisis, right? Better than buying a tiny convertible like the stereotypical forty-five year old middle class father.

Except (drum roll please), changing what you are doing in your life, as drastic as that change may be, does not change you (dramatic realization music starts to play). You bring your head with you wherever you go. So, I showed up in a new city as a MESS of a human being. I wouldn’t even call myself a human being. I was more like a mobile mold of Jell-O sloshing through each day. It took me some time (granted, it is still taking me some time) to get my head together and accept my life situation. Acceptance of imperfection is helpful. Accepting that where you are in life right now is simply where you are, and not where you will always be, and not necessarily where you once “expected” yourself to be, is actually quite freeing.

So, I am accepting that life as a twenty-something is confusing for everyone. Not everyone chooses to quit a stable job to take on a bunch of debt in a new and freezing cold city. But some people do. And guess what? It turns out pretty ok. You get to live with an awesome blog partner and friend who doesn’t let you forget that you’re awesome as well.

SO READ OUR BLOG SO YOU CAN BE FUCKING AWESOME TOO!
