QLC’s 18 Resolutions for 2018
Welcome to 2018, everyone! We know, it seemed a little unlikely at times in 2017 that we would all get here, but we managed to pull through. Everyone reading this should be incredibly proud of themselves. In honor of the many, many, many blogs and articles and traditions that have come before us, here are our 18 resolutions for 2018:
-
- We resolve to actually continue this blog. If you thought you’d be rid of us by now, sorry to say you were wrong. Trust us, we’re sort of surprised, too.
- We resolve to worry less about nuclear fire and other things that are not terribly likely to happen and are out of our control anyway.
- We resolve to be less cynical than the situation might reasonably call for in 2018.
- We resolve to cook real food when our “meal prep” reminders come up on our phones.
- We resolve to pay attention to our other phone reminders as well.
- We resolve to treat ourselves to at least one extra special “self-care” day a month (because self-care is what millennials are all about). Examples of self-care methods include: massage, manicure/pedicure, and/or not leaving our apartment all day
- We resolve to actively try to leave our apartment at least once every day, regardless of weather (with the exception of above mentioned self-care days).
- We resolve to read at least one real book in one sitting (food and bathroom breaks permitted).
- We resolve to say no to things we don’t want to do.
- We resolve to go out and spend time with friends even when the cat is on our lap.
- We resolve to actually get dressed every day (except self-care days).
- We resolve to be more aware of our own biases and be more skeptical of our initial perceptions.
- We resolve to work on being happy and content with everyday successes.
- We resolve to set aside at least 2 hours a week for exploring hobbies and other fun things (in addition to this blog which is obviously the MOST SUPER FUN!).
- We resolve to enjoy spending time by ourselves because we recognize how amazing we are (but also how amazing other people are when we see them).
- We resolve to learn about other industries and careers because people are cool, and the things they do are cool, so naturally we want to know about them so we can be cool(er) too.
- We resolve to embrace change and, like the amazing Tim Gunn says, make it work.
- We, too, resolve to spend more time being grateful for the things we have. Yes, everyone does this one, but that’s because it’s important and is guaranteed to make you a better person. We know we can be complainers, but we also know that we have plenty to be thankful for. Including you wonderful readers.
Happy 2018, lovely QLCers!
